Can Anyone Recommend A Good Set of Cameras?

I'm not sure if "Game Camera" or "Trail Cam" or whatever is the right term, but I'm wanting to get my hands on some little cameras to put up in my coop and run that I'll be able to monitor from my computer or phone. I don't have any predator problems right now, it's more about keeping an eye on things and seeing the thermometers I have in there. With summer coming up and reading so many threads about chickens dying from the heat I want to make sure my babies don't get too hot.

Can anyone recommend ones that have good picture? I don't even know if sound is an option, but if it is I'd be open to it. Also, stupid question I know, but I know virtually nothing about these cameras. I'd like color picture. Do color cameras switch to that black and white night vision during dark hours, or do the black and white cameras just have black and white picture always?

I don't think our wifi reaches out to the coop, so I'm not sure how the data is transmitted, but we'll see.

I bought 6 and installed 4. Here is a still I captured from one last night.

I ended up buying a new wireless router as mine was outdated and I could never reliable connect to the cameras. I have no trouble now.

My only complaint here is that it's just a smartphone thing. I was hoping for computer support. I do like that you can talk through it though. The price is right certainly. I'll probably go with those, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. Would love live feed to my laptop.

How far is your coop from your house?

It depends on where you want to mount your camera. I looked for one that would give me good clear, fairly distant pictures at night because here that is when most of the predators are roaming around and hunting. Since I put them up I have been amazed at how many predators roam around on our property at night. Most cameras take good daytime pictures but not all do good nighttime pictures. I do use the cameras in the video mode which does use the batteries quicker. I bought rechargeable batteries for the cameras.

I bought this one. I have several cameras. It takes good nighttime pictures which I like because here most of the predators come out at night. The drawback is that it takes the tiny micro SD card.

Before you buy check out some of the pictures taken with the camera. That is what I did I looked for reviews with pictures and videos to compare.

Every morning I make my rounds and switch out the memory cards in the cameras then take them in the house to view on my computer and then reformat the for the next morning when I make my rounds. I didn't realize how many predators lurk around at night. Here we have a lot of coyotes. The light in the background is from another camera. It is inferred.

Because I want to be able to see the chickens too and make sure they're ok/there's nothing going on that I should go out there for.

I use moultrie trail cameras. They are fairly priced (I think) and work great. Colored pictures, night vision with great pictures and catch all movement. You can set the movement timer also so you get a picture for every 1 sec, 2 sec, 3 sec, etc. Very easy to put together and comes with batteries.

ALSO you can set these cameras up (with internet) so that you can view the pictures directly from your cell phone, but I did not do this and just pull the card out and view via laptop.
