Can blind quail breed?

He’s doing fine with being blind, he is not in the best condition like has has a weird beak but he can eat and drink and he likes to follow his friend around.
Just out of curiosity, why would you want to breed a quail like that? I can understand being attached to him and not wanting to kill him, but breeding sounds like a very bad idea because he might pass those deformities on to his chicks.

I don’t want to breed him that’s why I’m asking, I want to keep him with some of his own breed but if I get a male he will probably get picked on so I was going to get some female to be his friend. But I don’t want to breed him, I want to eat the quail eggs.

He might be able to breed, but I wouldn't be sure. I'm surprised that he finds the food and water. Good luck with him!

This is why I was thinking he might not be totally blind. Maybe he got injured and lost some of his vision? He still has his eyeballs, right? I can't imagine he was born blind, these chicks usually don't live very long.

Does he show any reaction if you give him food? My partially blind quail doesn't react to bananas or other non colorful fruit. But she goes crazy for strawberries and apples.

Have you seen him running into objects or other things?

He walks around very carefully but he does sometimes walk into this and sometimes does this weird thing, he puts his head into his body and runs backwards. I haven’t seen him go crazy on and fruits yet as I have only given the lettuce as I have only had them for a couple days.

At my local hatchery, they had a blind chicken. They kept her in a pen with the chicks so the chicks felt like they had a mother, but they weren't being attacked. She was able to eat and drink fine and live a normalish life there.

Do you think he could live a happy life? Every animal deserves a chance.

Yeah I thought the same
