Sure you can, if you don't mind the cook at your favorite restaurant feeding you people. Honestly I don't think it's okay to do if you have the means to feed them other food. I couldn't bring myself to eat human so I wouldn't expect my chicken to to eat chicken. Isn't that how the whole Mad Cow thing started?Wrong.

I discovered today that my picky eaters LOVE chicken! So far the only treat they have liked is yogurt. So I tried some leftover chicken today and they went wild for it. I wouldn't have thought to give it to them if I hadn't read on here that chickens do like chicken.

They won't get it too often, because we are about 90% vegetarian.

The first time we grilled out after the chickens were in the coop-we grilled shrimp-so that was the first grilling aroma they smelled. I told my son I hoped when we grilled chicken-they would alway think---"Yum, smells like shrimp!"

I know a lot of people do. I know chickens eat each other when over crowded anyway amongst other reasons. But I don't like the idea because I'd be worried they could contract something from the meat, even if it is well cooked... Even if issues haven't showed up yet they may eventually. Like with mad cow disease and even some cannibalistic headhunter tribes.....

You should see them with a leftover whole chicken carcass! We like to have whole roasted chicken for dinner and always give the leftover carcass to the chickens. It's like a piranah feeding frenzy. You're lucky to find the bones later. The protien is good for them. If you read enough around here you will know that protien content of the feed you buy is a very important factor. I happen to think this additional protien boost is good for them. Any table scraps you can feed them helps to lower the feed bill. Mine are eating enough table scraps and foraging enough that I have not filled the feeder in over a week! If they were in the wild they would scavenge on most any easy meal they find. It's as true for my chickens as it is for my tropical birds (McCaw and Conure).
