Can I get a black Maran out of this result

I have a cuckoo maran he is half cuckoo and half black but he looks look like a cuckoo maran. His dad is a cuckoo maran and his mother is a black maran. So if I take him and breed him with a black hen. Will I get black maran chicks?

Because barred/cuckoo females will only pass it on to their sons. Barred/cuckoo males pass it on to both sexes.

Interesting. She was just a mix I hatched for the Easter hatch along. I kinda wanted to see what that cross would look like.

If I take the new males every generation and keep breeding them with the black hens will I eventually get black chicks?

If he is only single-barred, then you can get a percentage of solid females. If he is double-barred, you'll have to go an extra generation to get solids, after you get single-barred males.

It sounds like your male could be single barred, is that correct? If he is single barred rather than double you could expect appx 50% single barred chicks and 50% solid black chicks.
