The ABA standard is nice, especially the new pocket version, (love that idea), but if you want to save money, buy the APA standard. It covers largefowl, bantams, ducks, geese, turkeys, and if you can wait for the new edition coming out, any day now, we're frequently assured, guinea fowl too. Some of the color illustrations are laughable, but the book still has value in that it has some nice color paintings of many of the breeds, if you can allow for the "artistic license", to put it nicely. So if you approach it from an artwork point of view, rather than as an accurate example of the variety (which it should be, in the Standard of all places) you can enjoy some nice poultry paintings, AND educate yourself on the standards at the same time. Nowadays it seems as though we have to offer some enticement to get people to learn, otherwise they won't do it on their own, so those decorations help give them the entertainment that they require too.
