Can I give my chickens CHILDREN'S VITAMIN TABLETS?

Some vitamins and minerals that are healthy for you in small amount are bad for you in larger amounts. This is true of any species. Calcium for example is healthy and necessary for chickens but too much for an extended period of time will cause kidney failure.

Nutrition is all about balance. I don't know enough off the top of my head what about of what would be bad for a chicken but I would seriously doubt that what is healthy and balanced for a human child would be the same as what is balanced for a bird.

Do you feel like your birds are lacking something specific?
No, they're perfectly healthy. I was just wandering if it could be used as a substitute, that's all. Are there any fruits and vegies that specifically have the essential vitamins for chickens? Just for future references.

There are vitamin supplements for chickens for use during periods of high stress, molt, sickness, injury and moving to name a few. What I use is Vita-Pro B powder. A 1/4 tsp to a gallon of water does the trick. It can be bought at First State Vet supply here in the states, there has to be a place in Australia to get a similar product if you feel they need it. It might take a while to get from the U.S. if you are in no rush.

i add some supplement to my chickens water once a week at half the recommended dose... just as a top up. It has vitamins ,minerals and electrolytes ..... They don't get it every day and whats not needed gets flushed out anyway out.... I don't see the harm and really costs nothing
