Can I keep my Rooster?

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I think you have already received great answers to your questions, But I just have to second one suggestion...As @slordaz said, "your rooster wont lay eggs".

Your questions are not dumb at all. I have 20 roosters, most of them are in bachelor pens. I love rosters so I decided to keep them all.

Yes, you can eat fertilized eggs. They are safe just like all the other eggs you will collect. The only difference is that if given the opportunity they will hatch, so just make sure you collect them often and use them.

Your rooster will mate with any of the hens regardless of the breeds. Roosters don't seem to care what breed a hen is, they mate with them all the same.

If an egg is fertilized there will be a little red dot, sometimes it can be white, but there will be a dot that is noticeable on the yolk. They are pretty easy to see. If you see that you have a fertilized egg. But that's ok, you can eat them anyway they will not hurt your.

Silkie roosters are really sweet. I have 7 of them and find them to be sweet hearts.
