I have two broody hens that I'm trying to break in a wire cage. Can they both be in there, or will that encourage their broodiness?

Great question! :D Do they normally get along? Is there enough room for both birds comfortably?
One hen pecks the other a bit harder than she needs to when reminding her of her place in the pecking order. Other than that, they get along fine.
I hadn't thought about that. :hmm I don't think it's quite big enough for both of them. I'll take out Popcorn (the less broody one) and put her in later. :)

You can keep more than one broody in a breaker as long as there's enough space for both to comfortably fit, though I'd keep an eye on them to make sure their crankiness doesn't turn into fighting. Even birds that normally get along may get pretty feisty when hormones come into play.

I ended up putting Bandit back in the flock a week later. Popcorn, by that time, had decided that she didn't want to be broody anymore. I guess she must've seen Bandit in the cage and realized that she didn't want to be next.
