Can I kill a roomba?

seismic wonder made me wonder... I have long hair and I have to get an exacto knife and cut the wrapped hair out of the beater bar of the Electrolux quite often. we have three dogs, one a gsd. she sheds a puppy sized ball of fur everyday.
I suggest you make a doggie door that involves brushes and a whole body vacuum. they can't come in or out without being groomed. I have the idea every time I brush them.
...and after you get it made I will order two.

BTW, I've read reviews on them and the 2nd and 3rd generation roombas don't need to have batteries replaced all the time. The find their chargers and dock themselves into it when they need a charge. S'pose to have bigger dirt pans as well.

I just can't see the price for a Dyson. At those prices, the dang thing better do dishes AND vacumn well. Scooping the litter box would be nice too.

I could not either - DH bought it behind my back.

He was tired of me going thru a new vac. in a year or in 18 months (parrot dust and dander is hard on them for some reason

). Seriously I am hard on the poor things, and its NOT because I am a neat freak. I even killed a shop vac

I love my roomba.......actually maybe more then my maltese and my chickens...No not that much.. It should be cleaned every week.you may want to clean it 2X a week. it takes a few minutes to clean.Go get that roomba Its worth every penny:D

FWIW, we killed our Roomba within 24 hours.

I'm fairly sure it was the Basset Hounds' fur that did it. Might have been the Border Collie's. Might have been the several feet of hair I had at the time. Fairly sure it wasn't the house rabbit.

you can't make dinner or go shopping while using you dyson or the shop vac. I clean about 1000 sqft each day with it, yes I must put the chairs up because they are to narrow for roomba to pass through so yes I have to clean the table each day.you also have to get rid of wires( I lifted them once and taped behind the cabinets) and light weight mats.I have a maltese and 4 boys so we do make lots of crumbs and tibits on the floor.Stick around the first few times you use it. so you can empty the canister and also see any snag there my be. GET THE ROOMBA I did have to replace the battery on it after about 18 months. my sisters battery died at 12 months and roomba did replace it for Free.

I've been thinking about one of these too Gritty..
But with my 2 Saint bernard dogs and 7 indoor cats..w ehave a ton of fur around here daily... I can almost fill my dyson canister up daily...
Well.. thats if i use it daily..which i dont... which is WHY i really want a roomba... *sigh*
You get one first..and let me know if its any good..

Now I have to say that my Hoover Fusion has held up well for four years; so long as DH remembers to take it out to the shop and use the air compressor on it from time to time - dusty old house on a dusty old road. Plus, Charlie Girl was quite possibly a worse shedder than the boys are.
If specifically wanted a roomba so it could do daily vacumnings, which I don't feel like doing anymore. If I buy just another upright, it dang well better come with a maid to push it. I had one of those in a past life, the maid I mean. Big mistake! I wore myself out cleaning the day before her scheduled days, so my house would look nice when she arrived.

Will a roomba pick up cat litter, the non-clumping kind? Despite the fact that they have two of those wipe-your-paws-after-leaving-the-potty mat thingies, they still manage to track it out of the bathroom and out into the hall. Clumping litter only made it worse. I have to vacumn that area of the hall every single day!
