Can I Paint Your Birds?

Ruby, my Rhode Island Red Bantam hen! She is my favorite flock member. The sweetest chicken I have ever had-she loves to be around humans more than her own species, and enjoys coming inside to peck around on the ground and explore. Ruby's voice is like no other chicken I have heard. It is squeaky and high-pitched, and absolutely adorable! It definitely does not sound like she is clucking, more like a cute version of crying. My name that my chickens have given me is "Waa-Waa" but in Ruby's voice it sounds like "Wee-Wee"!

That is the smoothest coloring I have seen in a RIR! Almost like she is made of plastic!

I bet that sounds so darn cute!

I can’t not treat them like my children haha! They act just like mischievous toddlers or moody teenagers! Their father is a buff Orpington and their mother is a salmon favorelles.

I'm sorry about Vicky. It's so sad that tour feather babies don't have very long lives.

I use dog nail trimmers or a dremmel. Most of the birds don't need it- just a few extra special ones, lol.

Somewhere in that moment is when she was injured. I was convinced for a while that something stung her. But now I suspect something broke/dislocated/snapped inside of her and her "freak out" was because it scared/hurt her. I don't really know, though, of course. It's all speculation.
I wish they all live as long as Peanut the chicken did (was the world's oldest chicken at 21 yrs when she died
😮)

How do you see the quick in the nail? Or do you at all?

Oh geez. Poor Maleficent. That was very sudden.

21 years is amazing! I had no clue they could live that long. Wow!

I can’t see the quick. I just take a tiny bit off and look. If there’s no spot, I take a little more. Similar to how I do my dogs’ black nails. If I can’t tell, I just take a little off and leave it at that.

This is my one of my Bobwhite Quail. His name is Zelda
Here is your handsome boy! The first quail in the park!
