You captured her horn and her wide-leg stance perfectly!
SLW are gorgeous, but they are not big on human affection.

Awe, yes he isHe is a handsome boy! You like to rescue injured birds, don't you? That is very kind!
I understand! And people would most definitely mistreat deformed ones. A sad but true fact..Awe, yes he is. Ya I love animals so much and I don't have room for all the critters but I hate seeing ppl mistreating them

Yes, I was brand new to chickens as well when I had my SLW and didn't know what splayed legs were. If I did know what it was then, I probably would have caught it right away. Mine came from a local hatchery. Her name was Vicky. She died last year.Thank you.
Maleficent always had a waddle prior to her injury, too. In hindsight, I wonder if she was slightly splay-legged and since I was new to chickens I didn't notice. She always walked like a little kid with sand in their swim suit at the beach, lol! She came from Hoover Hatchery. Where did your SLW come from?
I think Maleficent's weird way of walking was a precursor to the injury she sustained. In spite of catching it on camera, I never found a cause. It started with 1 leg and then a couple days later she injured the second one trying to compensate for the 1st one.
Now she waddles even more, but she gets around and just needs an occasional nail trimming. I love all my feather babies and she is one of the extra special ones -- even though she's not MY biggest fan.
If you're curious, here is her mystery injury caught on camera.
Mine was too.... I think her plump look was also ***partially*** due to her stance. You can't really tell in this pic though. My SLW are... kinda fat ngl. They steal all the food. I promise I am not overfeeding them!![]()
