This duckling took the 48 hour things very seriously. I checked on him in the middle of the night, but it was still stuck. But by 7 am, exactly 48 hours after I first noticed the pip, it was out! The yolk sac seemed to be stuck around its leg but he worked it off and now seems normal and active. Just drying off! Phew! Thanks for all your help. Ill know next time to not be so worried before 2 days pass. When you wet it do you see veins ?
If not you can start to pull off shell and pull back that membrane
Baby will push out so if there is any yolk left you need to have a small bowl to place baby in so it doesn’t move around and rupture the yolk sac
He does look a little stuck to be honest

He (or she!) had the yolk sac tied around his leg somehow and was dragging it around, but has since managed to untangle it. Thanks for all your help!!! I’ll know next time not to worry so much before 48 hours.
