Can some tell me what George is?

This is George. I saw him at the feed store in a pen full of quail and took pity on him.
I'd like to know what breed of turkey he is.

It took him about an hour to stand up, the quail pen was rather short, and he isn't. And grass some what freaked him out. He also peeps like a quail, but then maybe baby turkeys and quails sound alike?

Poor fella,

Looks like he had been crammed in a tiny pen for too long. Looks like a burbon red and those feathers will look better soon. Try to feed him turkey or gamebird starter(26-30% protein). If it is getting cold there then give him a hear source like a small light. Watch him in the evenings or at night and see if he is huddled up by the light, If he is, then he is cold, if not, he doesn't need it.

IDK what he is but he's sure cute! Are his feathers going always be frizzled like that? We have the same name!!! My name is Cricket and my (new) last name starts with a B too!! yay!

Right now I have his pen covered up with two horse blankets at night, with a "little window" for fresh air. I thought about putting hay in his pen, as he is just on the ground and grass at the moment. If it gets colder (it's been low 50's) I was going to get the lamps and move him and my baby chicks into a shed we have. His feathers already look SO much better than when I brought him home on Sunday. He is trying to groom himself now.

Their feathers can get like that from too much heat lamp too. You might be able to find game bird starter my turkey starter isn't medicated either but I didn't put mine out until they were past 12 weeks...turkeys don't have any immunity until 8 weeks

Turkeys need 28% for 12 weeks then they can go down to 24% after turkey starter I go to game bird grower chicken starter is not the best turkeys need the higher protein and yours is going to need it for sure as he loses feathers so he can look normal again so hunt for 30% that way you could top dress it with the starter. Turkeys are so much fun you'll enjoy your little one mine are very entertaining.

If you can't find turkey or gamebird starter, you can use meat maker (cornish cross meat bird feed). The protein level there is 22 to 24 percent. While not ideal, its better than chick starter. You can add a little extra protein by giving your turkey a little bit of cooked egg. It shouldn't take much, maybe 1/4 egg every day or two while its still small. Don't give it too much egg or it might not want to eat its feed anymore!

You don't need medicated turkey starter. We intentionally look for unmedicated feeds for turkeys or chickens. Some die while small, but some will die whether you use medicated feed or not. I guess that our chick mortality rate is about 3% for cornish crosses, almost zero for heavy laying breeds, and about 10% for shipped turkeys. I guess I'm of the belief that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, at least in this case.
