Can someone help me understand this?? I live in Southaven, MS.

The way I read it I do not think you are allowed chickens at all, but since you already have them you should be prepared to surrender/ rehome them if you get reported.
There are ways to attempt to get laws changed, unfortunately often times it goes better if those attempts are made before getting the chickens.

These laws are dumb. I could understand for rooster purposes, but for hens? Bleh

It's their way of making chickens illegal without actually saying they're illegal, as realistically you can't put them 250' away from a residence unless you live on a lot of land (I'm on 4 acres, and I wouldn't meet the 250' requirement either).

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate your inputs 😊
I saw your post late. Sorry. I’m familiar with where you live. I go to your area often and am very familiar with Memphis,Germantown, Southaven, Tunica, and the whole area up there. I would be afraid of code enforcement big time and not really so much your neighbors unless you had just one that you accidentally ticked off. Then bam! You have a code enforcement person at your door and someone carting off your hens. You need to be realistic about that.

Right now they are living in a box in my laundry roomView attachment 2294151but they're getting kinda big
This container/brooder is way to small for these 4 chicks, as they can hardly move around or away from the heat lamp even if they wanted to.

With regard to your city ordinances I do not think it a good idea having them enclosed at all times in your house or a converted shed so nobody would see them. Apart from that you would have to take into consideration that chickens can be very noisy, hens even more than roosters. And chickens need lots of fresh air and room to roam outside in the sun and go about their chicken life to stay healthy.

Apart from violating your city ordinances with all the consequences that might arise for you, trying to hide chickens in a shed would by no means be animal friendly and I suggest you better find a new home for them where they will be able to lead a normal and healthy chicken life outdoors.

We don't constantly keep them in the box. Just at night. They are usually either running around our huge laundry room, or in a pen outside we made for them. So they are inside and outside. I'll figure out some kind of permanent option soon
