Can someone tell me what is wrong with my Red Golden Pheasant hen?

Try Ivomec wormer, its a injectable. You can get it at tractor supply, and only giver her 1/4 cc under the skin. Then half that amount after 10 days. If you would rather not inject, then mix 3cc to a gal of water, and give it to her for one day, then repeat at 10 days. This stuff will cost you around $40, but it is the best wormer on the market. It will kill any internal and external parasites. Dont mix any other wormers while you are treating her with this. She possibly has gape worms. A respiratory infection would involve more sneezing and mucus I would think...though she still could have one. Giving her the wormer wont hurt her, and you will have it on hand for other birds that need it in the future.

Phebe is not doing well at all... I thought her right eye looked somewhat sunken in for the last couple of days... my husband went out there this morning and she had some bleeding from her mouth and her eye was almost swollen shut and she's not energetic.... We still don't know for sure what we're dealing with here... She is now separated from the other birds... I feel so sorry for her! Any further suggestions?

Hi,

i would try putting some terramicine eye cream on the eyes, it contains antibiotic and give her for five days in a row everyday a half a tablet of Flagyl 500 in the throat behind the airhole, this is a mdicine against sinusitis, what i think your bird has, i have used this in the past, it helped after a few days, just my idea,

hope she gets better,

greetz,

Sounds like its defintely a sinus/respiratory infection. I would give her a strong dose of the tylan 50. It takes 4 times the amount of 50 to be as strong as tylan 200. Try giving her 1cc each day until you see a change.

Thanks, so much, for your suggestions! I always pass this information on to my husband... We do have some Tylan 50 on hand... Thanks everyone! She seems to be a little better... But has a long way to go to be back to her normal self....

Phebe is still not doing good... we had her secluded and we were washing out her eye/s and we injected her with 1cc Tylan 50 and a lower dose... I don't think she can see out of one eye... the other is foamy? See pics and please offer advise!!!! What is going on with
my poor Phebe? Thank you!

I have a amherst male with a eye that look like that but its been like that sence he hatched. It look like infection i would put her in a cage where nothing can peck at it.

If I where you go over to tylon 200 inject 0.5 under the skin or it will be better to get terramycin inject solution and inject 0.5 cc just below they eye direct in the sinus i have a chicken with the same problem 4 days ago with the same symtoms as on the photo and I inject it like this I said above and every day it was beter and today the eye where complete healed you can also take normal eye ointment And treat it in the eye.

It is a pity I don t have that pheasant here I love to treat sick birds

good luck

Thanks De Wet for the advice! I wish to goodness YOU were here so YOU could make those injections!!! I don't think we're knowledgeable enough to give an injection directly into the sinus!!!
Can the terramycin just be injected under the skin? Would that be better than Tylan 200?? Thanks so much for your help!!!
