Can this leg be fixed/treated? 2 week old chick...Splay leg/hip *Photos*

I have a silkie chick..They are coming close to 2 weeks old... born with wry neck, which seems to be improving however, his leg which was rotated out from several days old is not improving. I have been band-aiding them. Not sure if there is anything else I can do? or do I just leave it? Thanks.

I think your chick has a different problem that splay leg, but either a slipped tendon, or a rotated femur. You can do a search at the top of the page for either one of those to see pictures. A slipped tendon needs to be put back in place and then vet wrapped, and a rotated femur may need surgery. Neither one is easy to fix. Poultry Pedia Podiatry is a good website to visit for fixing a slipped tendon.

Thank you for the information, I will read into it farther. Where do you go about finding a vet that will do surgery on a chick if that is what is needed?
