Can unhandled ducks be 'tamed'?

I have 3 Rouen ducks and boy, now that Spring is here they will wander back to the pond and not come back up at night. I finally caught them one morning and have them penned up in the chicken yard. Boy, are they ever mad! But, I want to be able to collect the eggs and not have them attacked by coyotes-my uncle shot one going after our calves a few days ago :-( So, you might have to keep them penned. I love to have my birds free range, but their safety comes first.

They were a year old.

I honestly don't like Muscovies, but I think you are right. Maybe they'll come back or something. Or maybe I'll just get some chicks and try again.

Here's two pictures of them from today. Sorry the quality isn't great but I'm using my phone camera. The only other info I have on them is that they're supposed to be GREAT for setting eggs.
Beautiful Muscovy's and it will take some time but if you go about it slowly they will eventually eat out of your hand, Dried meal worms work wonders. And that chocolate dapple dachshund looks alot like mine.

Ech, I really do NOT like Muscovy's. I set out to NOT get them and that is not the breed I was told they are. Nothing really productive can come out of a Muscovy/Pekin crossbreed so I think I'm just going to get rid of them once they tame up a bit. Maybe he mixed up the cages or something.

And my pup is adorable and loves to run around all day. :) I can tell her to 'put 'em in' and she herds up the stray chickens and puts them in the coop at night for me. :)

EDIT: ... Muscovy/Pekin crossbreeds are actually pretty cute.

I MAY keep them..

From what I read, muscovy/pekins are good for meat if nothing else lol. When I got my ducklings last year I had no idea what they were, just ducks. I searched pics on the web for days as she grew and discovered it was a muscovy. I was like oh they are ugly lol. But her personality more than makes up for her looks.

Well, I've never had roast duck and I'd like to try some. xD

Do Muscovy's self brood very well?

Alright, we'll see how they do.Though if they don't tame up I'm stealing their chicks to hand raise.

Do you think the girls I have are old enough to be laying eggs?
