Can you create your own breed out of crossbreeds?

Hi everyone, I want to know if I can create my own 'breed' out of half and half chooks (I am just fancying, not super serious) . All my current girls are 1/2 and to get a rooster I was thinking next time I had a broody I would hatch out chicks. (This is my only option) I can get fertile eggs off a farmer friend for dirt cheap but with a really low hatch rate. (1-3 chicks per dozen eggs) I have no idea what the resulting chicks would be but I know the roo is an Australorp and some of the hens include, ISA Browns, Light something, Partridge something, Blue something and Red something. So once I got my roo and another hen or so, could I create my own breed from them? Once I knew what they and their offspring looked like could I create my own 'breed'?

What you would have are crossbreeds, or "barnyard mutts," same as the chicks sleeping on the ladder in my barn. If you want to make a breed, make a plan, pick the qualities you want and breed for them. Persist until the desired qualities breed true.

(For instance: If anyone's interested in breeding for a dual-purpose, blue chicken with high egg production [250+] and broodiness, peacombed and of a fierce, independent temperament [think Old English Game], I would be willing to buy...)

I know it would take a long time but I like making things and I don't care if it takes a while. In fact the longer the better (to an extent) because once they are all bred I would just start another one. Here is a pic of what I had in mind.

I plan to create a breed, then mix it with Araucana and maybe some Faverolles and Hamburgh to even it out again. Bare in mind, barnyard mixes are all I have to work with.

I already have a white, skinny big tailed hen to be the Mum and maybe one of my browns when she is old enough. Now all I have to wait for is Belle to go broody and my Dad's consent.

Tinky. The hen I would use the most.

Well, apparently some of the first lines of Buff Plymouth Rocks were created from mixedbreds that carried the proper color and shape.
Araucana and maybe some Faverolles
I see you have something in mind, of course using Favourolles and Araucanas will not help you maintain that shape you have. For that shape, I would use Leghorns or Anconas, or even IxWorth

To breed with intent you have to separate the birds with attributes you want to express/expand on. Selective breeding not letting barnyard propagate willy nilly rather a separate pen of the few selected breeders. The more you add external birds to the breeding the longer it will take to get repeatable results in offspring.

With focus on color and body type you'll eventually get to birds that create copies of themselves. If you add another breed or barnyard mix into breeding plan it will take longer to achieve minime's.
