Can you hear your chickens inside your house?

Mine are 100' behind my house and yes, I can hear them clearly, both the rooster and the hens when they sing their egg song. With the windows open but the fan on I can barely hear the roo, which is great in the morning, I can just hear him start and he wakes me up, but hubby, who works nights, is deep asleep and doesn't hear a thing.

I have two "crowing hens," one of which makes one of the most annoying sounds on earth.

Our two young cockerels have just started to crow, and they sound kind of nice. There's a melody to it instead of just a horrible screech. I am really hoping that once the boys become men, the two hens will knock it off.

our coop is about 100' from our house and with the windows open, we can very clearly hear both our roos and our proud, egg-song-singing hens! With the windows closed, if it's totally quiet in the house and you concentrate, you can kind of hear them. Outside, you can hear them from quite a ways away... like probably... 100 yards. But, I like hearing them and our one set of neighbors that are close enough to hear also like to hear them, so we're lucky! My neighbor on the other side says she can't hear them at all and had no idea I had chickens until I brought her eggs. She's probably 500' from us. I think some chickens are way louder than others... maybe you just have quiet ones!

Our pen is about 75 yards away from the house.

My 4 roosters usually start crowing about 4:00am (which is the time I get up for work). Whether or not the windows are open, I can hear them. If they are not crowing by 4:15 am, I start to worry. So far, all has been good, they just wanted to sleep in.

I have neighbors on both sides of us who hear the chickens, both neighbors were raised on farms, so they told me that hearing the chickens throughout the day is very comforting. And I have to agree.

I live in a mtn cove and I can hear others roosters about a mile away so I know they can hear mine a lot. I have quite a few neighbors and they all love them but one. She is a friend though and gets eggs so all is well. I am above my chicken coop on the side of a hill so yes I can hear him and the hens. I do love it. Gloria Jean

Only if it's REAL quiet and I concentrate. (with windows closed) Haven't had windows open in a long time (too hot here) during the day, but I'm sure I'd hear the egg song if they were.
