Can you please look at these pics?

hello , if you can reach aroun the swelling and its not attached to anything but skin and seems fluid filled , i would use a new exacto blade and lance it like said before at the bottom, a small poke , espacially if its infection wont hurt more and may well save her to get it out, then getting a syringe with betadine you can go through your small hole and rince it out, that may be all ya need,
good luck ,
silkymom,

I lanced it this morning and only got blood. No puss or clearish fluid. The vet said pnemonia b/c he said that the mucus would settle there. No other respitory symptoms. She's eating a little still. Seems slightly lethargic but otherwise okay.

Normally it settles in the sinuses up higher, but if you really think it is respiratory then a shot of Tylan 50 for 3 days in the breast muscle is typical treatment. I'd keep doing a warm Epsom salt compress on it and see if it doesn't drawl out something......

I can definitely say without a doubt that the tylan 50 works. My "bird" (my turkey) was sick...we dosed her for 3 days (she got 6cc's) and she is absolutely fine now. She had a respiratory infection. She had the swelling just like your girl, only Birds was just under her eyes.

Can I get Tylon at the feed store? I have to go back tomorrow for mash that they were out of today anyway, so I could pick some up and give it a try.

Epson salt? Try to hold a soaked cloth on her face with it? Is that the best way to do it?

TSC has Tylan, some feeds stores too. It is a cattle/livestock injectable. As for the epsom salt, it is a natural drawling sav. I've used it on everything from myself to horses and it it is great at pulling out infection, if that is what it is. I had a dog that got bit by a snake that looked a lot like your chicken. After using the epsom salt for a few days, it all came out of her neck and drained....Does she wheeze in her chest if you take a listen?
