Can you put any type rooster with any type of hens ?

Why do you want a rooster?

I’m not the OP, but usually people want roosters either for fertilized eggs or flock protection. They can be very advantageous when it comes to warnings and prevention of predator disasters.

I had a bantam Partridge Cochin in with my standard girls. He was great - even gathered some little chickies

A friend had a bantam rooster and he was always jumping the big girls.

The small one is the one that got beaten up by the hens for 2 days until I separated them.
The big one I have just been given this morning, so have put him in with the small one so the hens can see them and get used to them for a while without contact. View attachment 2411954

What's a pullet ?

A pullet is a female chicken who is not yet fully mature. Some people say that the transition from pullet to hen takes place once she's laying regularly, others say it happens once she's a year old.

if you look it up the technical definition of pullet or cockerel is that they are less than a year old. That technical definition goes by the calendar. After a year they are hen or rooster.

I find the behavioral definition to be quite different. I find that my pullets start acting like adults and are accepted into the flock dynamics as adults around the time that they start laying. I have not noticed anything that shows when cockerels start acting and thinking like mature roosters. I've seen that at 5 months, I've seen some wait pretty much the whole year.
