Can you take a dog (on a leash,of course) into a Tractor Supply store?

Can you take a dog in? Absolutely!!!

Will they throw you back out?

Ditto.

I still get hassled even though my dog is in her Service Dog Vest.

But then again she isn't your normally expected Service Dog (not a German Shepard or Lab) and I don't have a visual handicap.

ETA---I love when someone says to me in a snotty way, "You don't look handicapped". I respond with, "Well, you don't look stupid either but I guess looks can be deceiving" I know, I'm bad.

The Beast isnt a typical Service Dog either and people just kinda stop and stare at him lol. but he has alerted on other diabetics who didnt realize they were headed for trouble.
when they ask why he is acting funny ( to them anyway) I have to ask if they are diabetic and do they have a meter with them.
He will alert to a seizure also.

I just gotta comment on this! I have had service dogs in training before and people say the same thing. How can it be really after all this time that people don't recognize the service vest as what it is?!??

Oh I know what you mean!! We've even gotten Spook a blinding Pink NEON vest and we still get, "Well, I didn't see the medical patches" Ah, excuse me they are bright blue to jump off the neon pink!! I have a sling bag backpack that I carry because of all my meds and medical info I have to carry. We've had an emblem made to go on it. Big Red Cross (medical symbol) Bright blue border around the 8 inch circle with MEDICAL ALERT DOG ACCESS REQUIRED BY LAW. People will still come up from behind and tell us. "You can't have that do in the store". Ok they aren't only stupid they can't read!!. HOWEVER, we have never had problems in TSC!

Spook doesn't walk on leash either. She is always at heal, though she tends to linger when there are little kids or little old ladies around. Loves them both. People are shocked when I walk out of Wally World pushing a cart, her at my side and when we get to the cross walk all I say is "Stop" and she stops on a dime. I tend to get the, "Can you train my kid to do that?"

Gypsy, Spook will do the same thing with people with seizures. She also has a nack for picking up on pre-cancerous skin leasions. .

Aren't dogs amazing.

TSC has a great commerical about protecting your prized something or other dog that's gone into heat. It's funny what they do to keep the boy dog out, lol.

My Beast totally has amazed me from the age of 9 weeks old, he started alerting to my grandaughters diabeties almost imediately.
I dont normally put his vest on to go to TSC, they have known him since he was a tiny ? (oxymoron here) pup.
LOL he hasnt been able to ride in a cart since he was 4 months old, they cant hold up under his weight lol. and to carry him out of the question he weighs as much as a small person,( 135 lbs)

Never saw dogs in TSC stores in Springfield or Bloomington, IL stores.

In our town, Farm and Fleet and Rural King says NO to dogs and signs are up on the door, PLEASE NO DOGS! Except for service dogs. And a short brief message that they are sorry for the inconvience and liablities down (has been some cases that a person pet a dog, got bitten, or an overfriendly dog jumped on a person, mudded up their clothes or knocked someone down, etc). It is understandable in why they do not allow it but I wuld not allow dogs in grocery stores except for service dogs.

No, it's out of his jurisdiction so it wouldn't be DH that showed up. I would hate for the cops to show up! Believe it or not, I'm scared of cops!

(I know, DH is still shaking his head about it after all these years)

I understand completely! We all know that animals can carry diseases and dogs can't always be predictable. As a Service Dog Handler I have to be aware of that. There are some situations that I won't take Spook into because I don't want to push her past what I think she can handle. (and I've been working her 9 years) Concerts, movies in a theater (she snores at the drive-in), indoor get-togethers with lots of people. Too much noise, too close quarters, too many variables that I can't control.

My Service Dog loves our Ingles store. They've got her spoiled!! She gives kisses to the Assitant Manager and gets a belly rub from the Store Manager. Talks the hot food counter kids out of a chicken wing and the deli manger out of a piece of cheese, a peanut butter cookie from the bakery and a beef rib bone from the butchers!! Dog doesn't need to eat when she gets home after grocery shopping!!
