Can you tell me what color these ORPINGTON's R? >>>UPDATE AT 16 WEEKS

I know...I just can't remember for sure what the colors were of the parents, just that I'd get a mix of colors. I wish I hadn't deleted the emails. Maybe I can find them in my deleted file...I'll check.

Okay...I found the email. Hens are blue and black, but nothing mentioned of the rooster. Just that chicks could be blue/splash/black. If the rooster was blue...then all 3 colors are possible, correct?

Also remember just because he is blue does not make him an orpington.

The rooster in the website photos labled as blue orpingtons does not look like a blue orpington rooster.

He looks like a rose comb blue wyandotte.

She has this pic under her 'other breeds' heading... but it doesn't say what they are :p

I just went to the website, but none of the pics will load. The web seems to be moving slow on everything right now....but I'm on dial up too...lol. I do remember something about a comb on a rooster being frost bit during winter, but I don't remember if it was her rooster or not. I am constantly researching chickens and read so much stuff that I'm just not sure.

I can say, though, that my 3 chicks all have straight combs and are definitely splashes. I sure hope there isn't any Wyandotte blood in there though, as I got them to use with my other strain.

Unless she has another blue rooster somewhere, that looks to be a Blue Wyandotte over Orp hens. I zoomed in 400% on the pic with my IE zoom that keeps it clear and also had my DH look at it. The rooster has yellowish legs and a rose comb. If that isn't a rose comb, he's either been dubbed or lost every point on the comb. Maybe it's just the wrong picture she put up, who knows? I can see how that would happen with lots of big blue birds and I myself had to look closely to realize the comb thing. I'd love to know what the stripey chick is, though.

Well if she got them from a friend who didn't know what they are, she could very well think the hens are orps, but they're really blue rocks which would explain the chicks having so much yellow. The roo certainly looks like my blue wyandotte roo.
