In the Brooder
From what I am aware, 1 square feet of ventilation per bird. I assume this is for both the coop and run. My run is covered in plastic sheeting.
My question is, How do people have ventilation without letting snow in? From what I understand, if I put hardware cloth over the ventilation gaps this may stop the snow, I've seen someone mention 1/2 inch hardware cloth, but the squares seem too big that they would let snow in? Would I use 1/4 inch then? Or is there another way? Wondering if anyone has any experience with this.
I'm in southern manitoba, canada, where winters reach as cold as -40C, but range from -10 to -30 on average, at times with very strong winds and a lot of snow.
