Hello Gillian!
We are located in Whitecourt. I am venturing out towards Stony near the end of the week if everything goes as planned. I'm also looking to find some organic feed.......I know that the FeedMill in Wetaskiwin has some, but I am unsure if it would be feasible to have it shipped out...... and driving out there frequently wouldn't work either. Does anyone have suggestions for this area of raising birds? Does anyone make their own feed mix sourcing from organic growers close by? I's love to hear what others are doing!
Hi Albertamamma,

We know a couple people raising some chickens with organic feed out near Peers so I will ask where they get/what they do for their feed. I get my first chickens (ISA brown) this afternoon and I'm really excited. Started out with what the UFA recommended. Ill do my research in the meantime. Hoping to pick up a couple more ladies once I can find some.

Oh that would be great! I am also going to start things off with the UFA in Mayerthorpe just to get started, but if your friends in Peers don't mind sharing there Organic feed provider I would certainly appreciate it. we're picking up our Hens this weekend. Coop's still in the finishing stages.

Oh exciting! We bought our coop from a man who made it...but looking back I'm sad we didn't just build it ourselves, the way we wanted, now that I know we are actually capable of building something. We just built an A frame mobile pen for our yard this weekend that worked out really well. I'll have the man give the guys a call about their chicken feed. Ill let you know once we hear back from them!
