Good for you! Silkies are easy to care for & two in the house should be fun! We have one partridge Roo (hatched this spring) who seems to get along well with the rest of our crowd... not having much luck with the ladies though, they are all too big for him. Good luck with your Silkies, they have such sweet personalitiesMoncton but if all goes well we should be moving nearer to sainte marie
Nope - I would like to see yours first, before I get my own (from you, hopefully) I will let you know closer to the date what our time frame is like. Moving that distance seems to be a bit of a crapshoot! lolyou don't have any birds do you?
I have extra shoes here for guests that have chickens, but I've never had anyone come over that did. Usually I don't let anyone that does have chickens close to the barn.
I am always up for farm visits. Especially with new hobbiests. Just make sure you come here before you go somewhere else, or than I will be very concerned with bisecurity (i.e.: same day visit as another farm).
Yay!! another!Hello, It is so nice to see THREE maritimers (All female New Brunswickers to boot!)... wish we had our own Maritime Forum.
I have Delaware's & Easter Eggers & Last spring took the plunge & ordered my Welsummers, Cuckoo Maran's & Barnvelders from Performance Poultry. He flew the chicks into Fredericton for pick up & it worked out well. With my order of 48 chicks it worked out to about $8 per chick. I am thinking of placing another order with him soon. I want to get Standard Salmon Faverolles & some more Barnvelders, they have such interesting personalities & gorgeous feathering.

It's better if you order with a group of people and share the shipping costsYay!! another!
I'm with you - I would like to put in an order with Performance as well. Have heard some stories but will likely take my chances. I was looking at the Salmon Faverolles as well. Saw a really terrific one at a show in Red Deer Alberta - and WOW! Was that a beautiful bird.
It looks like you and I are not that far away - I'm just north of Centreville (when I get there) I've been through Gagetown a few times and I have a dear friend's son stationed at the base there.
Great to meet you Peeperz!

When I first started looking for chickens, light sussex were the first breed I wanted. I couldn't find them. I was wondering where you did. Maybe someone on here might know someplace preferably in NB to find them. Hatching eggs would work too. Thanks.I think it's a great idea to have a thread where Canadians can get in touch with other Canadians.
I've been raising chickens for a while and have Light Sussex and Black/Blue Copper Marans in the Okanagan, BC.
I look forward to learning a lot on this forum.
