Is there one sex over another that would make this sound in 1week old chicks ? I have about 15- 1week old chicks and just 1 loves to chirp like a Canary or a song bird.

A few of my nine week old pullets do that noise when they are very happy, usually on my lap being petted. I just think of it like purring. No idea if one sex does it more than the other though.

It's called "trilling". It's one of the sweetest sounds in nature. Chicks will make this sound when they're assembling themselves for bedtime, or when they're feeling exquisitely content. They make this trilling sound until they're ready to get their adult voices around age three months or thereabouts.

The chick will sing at random doesn't matter the time of day or night, it's nice to hear a little bit of spring when it is cold outside, I have to admit. I do know which Cuckoo Marans chick it is
