Candeling and hatching diary.

Are you doing it in a very dark room? What are you using for a flash light? Does it have new batteries? I can see inside mine ok with a 9 LED flash light. Perhaps you can make a candler with a table lamp (fluorescent bulb so it won't be too warm) and a cardboard box with a hole cut in it, placed over the lamp, then set the egg down onto the hole. Or, you could just wait 21 days!!

Came home tonight to 3 external pips and I think 4-5 internal struggling with humidity but it is well above 50 now and the last batch was ok at that level So I will keep an eye on them one chick has pipped right in the middle of the egg but is peeping very loud so I checked the air cell end and there is till a lot of blood in the blood vessels which means it is not ready yet but I imagine it will need assistance as the membrane around the pip is hard and dry but at least it has pipped the other two appear to be normal pips hoping for babies by morning.

I don't have a light strong enough to candle my Easter eggs what now?

I bought a 200 lumen flashlight it works great as long as I keep fresh batteries in it. I also bought a 2000 lumen flash light lol but it takes a special kind of battery and I have not had time to go to the store and get them.

Two babies this morning a bantam cochin and I think a spitzhaben they hatched within seconds of each other they are very tired and quiet babies.

4 babies but one was malpositioned and I had to assist so not likely going to make the other 3 are doing well and are bantam cochins how soon will I be able to tell if they are frizzles?

So this morning in between trying to get the hatcher temp right I opened my cabinet incubator and I do believe I have my first stinker yuck didn't have time to search for it this morning so I am going to be smelling all the eggs when I get home to figure out where the dud is and then I will be putting y shipped eggs into the incubator does not look like my final batch is going to make it today maybe tomorrow but who knows. I also am meeting a gentleman after work to get 8 Copper maran eggs along with for you guessed it BYM to make it an even dozen and on saturday I am getting 5-6 dozen orpington eggs from someone else who is local. So I am glad I made the decision to fire up the second cabinet incubator. They are supposed to have a 624 egg capacity but I don't think you can turn them correctly with that many eggs. I am currently trying to figure out an easier way to turn 400 plus eggs by hand. I am going to have set over 350 eggs for the easter hatch along this could be so so bad luckily there will be quite a few leaving the day after hatch to go with one of the egg owners the others I will be taking to a swap in April. Going to move my 7 week old Orpington chicks to a real chicken coop this weekend as they have started escaping from their brooder and it is just time for them to go out. Going to have a very busy weekend.
OMG, THAT'S A CRAP LOAD OF EGGS. WHOOOLLLLLLYYY COW, YOU HAVE YOUR WORK CUT OUT FOR YOU..
