80? way to high, should be more like 60 to 65. 70 is still OK but 75 is pushing it and 80 will kill them

Actually today was day 22!

First candle it, then smell it, make a tiny hole at the air cell, smell it again. You will know if its been a while since it died.

This thread is becoming a real goldmine for information- added to of course, the other goldmines of info on here about hatching eggs.

I hatched out several ducklings over last weekend from my duck group! My store bought incubator is doing the trick it seems. All of them popped out of their shells like kickboxers. Interestingly, with the same dad but two different mothers, the ducklings all look about the same.



My cubalayas, a long wait, are on day 18 today. They were shipped eggs, and wonderfully, I've only had a couple out of the entire shipment not make it this far! I had mostly cubalayas, but a few were a bantam breed tossed in for freebies. All of the eggs that didn't make it were the bantam freebies, which makes me wonder if I had nothing to do with them not making it. Which is fine with me! I can only do so much. I will be posting my long awaited cubalaya group when they hatch if anyone wants photos!

Feels good to have this whole hatching thing down. I have so many chicks and ducklings now though, that these cubalayas are my last group for the year. I've been selling my duck hatching eggs and giving them away since- what I don't set aside for eating of course.

Yesterday was day 18 and I had my first pip by the evening right before bed...



And this morning, *pop*! Baby cubalaya #1. More pips today.

Anybody willing to help me with my self control issues I went crazy the last two days and have 6 orders of hatching eggs on there way here and I put in a half a dozen from my new copper maran trio as well as a half a dozen of lavender orps and 17 BBS orps and then I also put in a 1 1/2 dozen of my BYM I guess its ok seeing as how my incubator did sit empty for a few days and I will not have anything hatching for the next two weeks. I sold over 100 chicks last weekend and have changed my focus to trying to hatch mostly pure breds. Very excited about the prospect of the shipped eggs I ordered praying for safe travels for them they should start arriving today.

As long as you have space, resources, and can clean after all of them I don't see a problem.

I'm personally at my limit now. I have just over 30 birds total.
