Candid game cam pix: and the life of my chickens

beautiful birds! I only wish our winters weren't so hard on birds with big combs. I should encourage my mother in law to have such a camera at her place. I'm curious to see just how many predators she has visiting on a daily basis!

Two of my roosters took a half hour dust bath today!!!!!! Caught on cam of course LOL

My BCM roo (we just call him "Black and Red") dug out a hole and then he shared it with the Brown Leghorn roo (we call him Leggy) ..... wonder if there's a romance going on there?

You can just see the EE roo (uh, his name is Pac Man, or Buffy, whichever I think of first) saying "Are you guys done YET??"

Our "friendly neighborhood pit bull" is getting frequent flyer miles these days. Seems like he's not chasing birds though, so unless he starts any new bad habits I guess I'll just be keeping a watchful eye on him for now.

LOOKs like he was being walked off leash with the guys on the road

However, I've seen a chocolate & black Lab running together could have been them

And at 4:10am something triggered the cam, but avoided it's picture taken as I got 3 shots of nothing - then, apparently it also hit the fence that the cam was mounted on, hence this fuzzy picture came out......a second cam would be handy about now

I love the quality of the color pics on that game camera. Very impressive. I may have a great Christmas gift idea for my husband. He has two game cams, but they don't look anything like that.

If you don't mind me asking: It appears that the night pics with the flash are b/w and the daytime pics are in color. But, some of the day pics were b/w. What causes the difference?

Thanks for sharing!!!

Ummm I think you mean the ones at 7am-ish? In the early morning there isn't enough light yet, especially when it's cloudy out, so it still uses the IR flash I think, and the colors don't come out when it does. That's the only explanation that makes sense to me. The only time it take black and white "daylight" pictures is right after the crack of dawn.

The black and white at night is because it has an infrared flash, not a normal white flash. I've had 2-legged predators before as well, so I want the flash to be as inconspicuous as possible, and I also padlock the camera up as tight as I can.

Set my cam and traps out tonight in full force.

My FIL reported that the Pitbull neighbors' two little boys brought a new little pitty puppy off leash walking down the street with them. It chased the chickens and raised cain. FIL chased it off and told them that the dog needed to be on a leash. He said it was little, white and golden brown colored. If it's that little, it might fit in my live trap.....
Anyways, hope I don't lose any birds while I'm at work.
