Candleing brown eggs

There
is a good sticky thread in the Incubating and Hatching Chicks area - you can't miss it at the top of the page. I put the link here, but not sure if it'll work. There are pics and everything. But, you won't be able to tell if the egg is fertile until it's been developing enough to see veins starting - about 4 days (short of breaking it open to see if the blastodisc has indeed been fertilized - but that would be a moot point if you wanted to hatch it). You also need a really dark room and a very bright light for candling brown eggs.

Have the hens been around a rooster ? If not, then they are definitely not fertile.

Hope that helps
