CANDLING- WHAT IS THIS??

Ok, I'm very excited now!! I saw THIS in that egg tonight, and it looks like veins in a spider pattern to me. Can you see it? I think we have a little baby forming!!!

So, I can't post any pics because the egg has gotten too dark to be able to see anything on camera. It's hard to see with just the naked eye. Anyway, I only have 8 more days before the baby hatches, and she ended up being the only one out of ten eggs to be fertile. There are now 14 other eggs in with her, hoping for more babies, but nothing so far. She's doing really good, though, and on Monday night, I could see her little beak opening and closing when I candled!! It was sooooo cool! I hope she makes it and manages to hatch for me. This will be my very first baby I've hatched myself, so I really hope she stays strong and healthy and that my fertility rate has gone up since then so I'll have some more babies to keep her company. Fingers crossed!!

Bummer that only one of ten was fertile.
How many days for the other 14 eggs?
Do you have a separate hatcher?

Umm, 4 are on day 6, and the other 10 are on day 2. And yes, I have a separate incubator I'm going to use for hatching. Is there anything I need to know about hatching in a still air? Is there a difference in what the humidity and temp levels should be?

Great news that you have a seperate incubator for hatching
Still air during incubation should be 101*F measured at the top of the eggs. No difference for humidity at hatch/lockdown and it should be at least 65%.

Most incubate (day 0-17) at a lower humidity ~40% and sometimes lower.....
.....but there are variables that you should study up on in the incubating forum.

Hatching (day 18 onward) humidity should be much higher 80%+.

That's why if you are doing staggered incubation(setting eggs on different days) you need a separate incubator for hatching.

I'm doing dry incubation with humidity hovering around 30%, although I've been letting it get as high as 40% and as low as 25%. With dry incubation, isn't the humidity lower for hatching as well? Say, 65-75%? If I'm wrong, please let me know. The temp in a still air needs to be around 101*, correct?

No, I don't think so.... the higher humidity is to keep the membranes moist once they pip.
Humidity during incubation should be monitored and adjusted depending on air cell growth.
Not sure about the temp for still air, sounds right...but do a search to confirm or find a hatch-a-long thread to ask in.
