Can you have a vet check for yeast?

No, they would swab her mouth.

The only vet that would do that here would charge around $80.00 to do it. More than I really want to spend. Our regular vet will test fecal for us, but that's about it. I don't think he'd do a mouth swab. But I read a few articles about Candida and there are also other fungal infections they can develop from drinking contaminated water. They all seem to have similar symptoms. I'm wondering if I should try Nystatin. I've had her on organic ACV in her water, plus the avian specific probiotic powder. I don't think she has eaten anything today, but she did eat all her food yesterday,

I treated my cockerel with flagyl for 6 days and then 1 clove of garlic for about 10 days. he is doing fine now, no sign of cancer (since march). but when it is too hot he has difficulty to breathe (sounds like snoring). that will stay forever but it will not pass to the other birds. put some garlic and/or acv to their water from time to time.

Garlic can be toxic to birds.

I think one clove of garlic per bird might be too much. We give ours garlic once in awhile, it does help with lice. But I try to be careful with how much i give, because too much will cause diarrhea. I give 1/2 of a medium clove in one gallon of water, and only very occasionally.

No thoughts on Nystatin, huh????

Nystatin won't hurt anything, but if you think it's fungal, something like ketoconazole or fluconazole might be a better choice.

I already ordered the Nystatin, for the same reason, figured it wouldn't hurt, and might help. She's eating...but just sort of picky about it. Drinking fine, and I have the whole flock on ACV water today. Wish I'd seen this first though. I mean I just think it's fungal because in the very beginning, she had those weird fuzzy looking markings in her mouth....like some sort of fungal growth. When she developed the lesions, that threw me off because I thought it was Canker. Now I'm totallyl confused, because after I gave her the Metronidazole, the lesions are gone, but, as I said, she has the whitish mouth, after I gave her probios and acv.. One very faint bar on the roof of her mouth. Maybe she has multiple issues....

Some avian vets will use both Nystatin and ketoconazole or fluconazole together because nystatin alone doesn't always work. Additionally, pretty sure nystatin is not absorbed into the blood stream, so it will not treat yeast that it doesn't touch.
