Oh. My. Goodness. That is a lot of birds! Your chicken pasture must be bigger than your horse yard. Five years and you're just now finally joining BYC? Hope you enjoy being part of our community and sharing your experience. It’s great to have you here!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

Almost all of you mentioned the size of my flock. Thankfully, all of these chickens, except for the Australorps and a breeding pair of Bielefelder chickens, are still in the brooders. So right now I have a large number taking up small real estate.

Before I jumped into the rare breeds I raised RIR, Black Sex Link, ducks and Royal Palm turkeys. I used the funds from the turkey sales to purchase these chicks and hatching eggs. I have always been fascinated with the rare breeds of chickens. I’m hoping that I can become a breeder here in North Alabama.

I am going to do my best to get pictures of all of the little ones in their current brooders for y’all to see. My avatar is a picture of three of the four Dampierre chicks that I have. Regarding the chicken pasture, I’ve always let my previous birds scratch around in the pasture with the horses. The birds have always appreciated the horses moving the bugs around for them.

I’m sorry if I have missed a question to respond to. Feel free to find me on Facebook under Candace Rossi Reppond. I’m usually posting pictures of my animals there.
