AND IF SHE GOES STIRRING THINGS UP ABOUT THE SITUATION SHE COULD ALSO BE TALKING TO DCF FOR ILLEGAL ACTS IN THE PRESENCE OF MINOR CHILDREN (ALSO PUNISHABLE BY LAW HERE IN FLORIDA)... SEE HOW IT CAN GET WORSE? AND WE HAVENT EVEN GOT STARTED YET...

It is funny this post is only a few days old after what just happened at a swap today. I was not there but got the info from the swap org. a FWC person came and was giving everyone a hard time on the ducks they had. Rouen, runner, Cayauga, ect.... Only the people with Pekin were safe. I reviewed the Statute and see that all ducks fall under a sub-species of mallard Asas something. FWC is nto allowing anyone to buy or sell them at all even quail. Told everyone to get a license and even they the person who buys them needs to have one as well. Is there a way around it. The way I see it in the Statute, it state a hybrid of the mallard. Since most ducks breed true they are not a hybrid they only have the mallard in the background? Do you know of a way around this?

I agree that the stiff penalties for fish & game violations on the books in different states (not just Fl), and also on the agriculture department side of things (health certificates, etc.) is excessive in many cases...

Here is a link that may be helpful

Also I know that FWC has cracked down on a lot of the Farm Swaps about this.

I currently have chickens and 10 quail. I am in the process of getting Indian Runner ducks and geese and found out about this. I am in a bad postion though because a FWC lives a couple houses away.

I MOVED TO TO COUNTRY TO BE ABLE TO DO WANT I WANT! darn GOVERNMENT! IT'S NOT LIKE I AM WANTING TO RAISE A TIGER - JUST A FEW WATERFOWL!

IF YOU GET A PERMIT AND KEEP THEM IN ENCLOSED PEN YOU CAN HAVE THEM. NOTHING IN LAW SAYS YOU CANT HAVE THEM HERE, JUST CONTROLS THE WAY THEY ARE KEPT TO ENSURE THEY DO NOT GET LOOSE AND INTERBREED WITH WILD SPECES. WHILE ITS NOT A FAVORITE OF MANY FOLKS IT IS BASED ON VERY GOOD AND LOGICAL REASONING FOR A SPECIFIC REASON--- TO PROTECT WILDLIFE FROM IRRESPONSIBLE POULTRY OWNER'S ACTIONS. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THEY REGULATE HOW THESE ANIUMALS ARE KEPT VS HOW YOU MAY POSESS AND KEEP POLAR BEARS... BOTH ARE REQUIRED APPROPRIATE ESCAPE PROOF HOUSING AND CLEAN SAFE CARE. THIS LAW IS NOT NEW, IT HAS BEEN ON THE BOOKS AND ENFORCED FOR MANY YEARS NOW. IF YOU CANT UNDERSTAND THE REASONING FOR IT JUST LOOK BACK AT THE "GREAT SNAKE ROUND UP" THAT STARTED 2-3 YRS AGO IN THE EVERGLADES, OR THE REESE'S MONKEY STILL RUNNING AMUCK IN ST PETERSBURG.... THERE IS PROOF OF WHY WE NEED THIS REGULATION - ESPECIALLY IN THIS SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE WHERE MANY SPECES WOULD SURVIVE IN THE WILD WITHOUT HUMAN ASSISTANCE

AS FAR AS SALES YOU, IF YOU ARE LICENCED YOU CAN SELL TO ANYONE... IT'S THEIR LEGAL LIABILITY TO GET PROPER PERMITTING. THE LAW CLEARLY ALLOWS 50 OR LESS (IN AGGREGATE) GAMEBIRDS TO BE POSESSED WITHOUT LICENSURE. ANY WATERFOWL OTHER THAN MERGANSERS AND PEKINS MUST GET LICENSURE... 2 LEVELS AVAILABLE--- GAME BIRD FARM WHICH IS UNLIMITED, OR A SPECIAL PURPOSE PERMIT FOR PET WATERFOWL.

THE LINK YOU POSTED IS ALSO LISTED HERE ON THE STICKY FORM ... "GAMEBIRD LICENSURE" LINK WILL TAKE YOU TO IT BY FOLLOWING THE FLORIDA SELECTION... THERE ARE SELECTIONS FOR ALL STATES THERE AS WELL

ACCORDING TO BIOLOGY/ ZOOLOGY THEY CAN ALL INTERBREED AND PRODUCE FERTILE OFFSPRING--- THUS THE RASON FOR THE LAW. TO PROTECT THE FLORIDA MOTTLED DUCK POPULATION FROM A MUDDY GENE POOL.

Hello bluere11e and everybody else,

Thanks for your very helpful and informative posts. I was planning to order some America Buff goslings (they are not all white) to Florida but after reading your posts I will not. Do I understand you about Florida law that white Pekin ducks, white geese and white turkeys are exempt from regulation in Florida? Does this mean that they can be free range? Not in a cage? Fenced of course. The Embden goose is all white and weighs 15-20 lbs. It does not fly. Can you site the regulations that exempt these? I want to make sure I am within the law before ordering goslings. I see the notation about Pekins but not about white geese or turkeys. Thanks.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A PERMIT /LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR MORE THAN 50 CORTURNIX IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA? THANKS

So if I want to sell quail chicks at a farm swap I need a game bird licence even if I have less than 50 total at home? Hmmmmmm, thats a fair few chicks to have to sell before getting into proffit land! I think if I go that rout I will be bringing highlighted copies of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to my animals with me to any farm swap I go to.

Sorry for the bad spelling, anytime I hit spell check - but ONLY on BYC - it hides all my text!

Hi y'all! I was told at the Barberville farm swap by a man that always has a minimum of like 70 Coturnix/Pharoah quail that ya need a license. Well F*** that...!!!! I have about 25, I've sold like ten or so to a friend bc he likes pickeled quail eggs. What are they gunna do? Arrest a 15 year old who sells a few quail to someone they've known for a while? Well... I kinda doubt that... and thay ARE MYYYYYYYYY BIRDS! I DARE THEM TO ARREST MY PARENTS! PAH, I SAY FEIGHN INNOCENCE ABOUT THE PERMIT. Is it even legal for me to buy one??? And I've had about 60 C/P's at one point. I was like 11 or 12 then.

I have 83 buttons that I hatched in the last few weeks. Soooo glad I ain't gotta have a permit for them. I have over 50 adults too, tht's for sure.

And btw; the people there sell almost EVERYTHING POULTRY!

Hey, do you need a permit to sell guines fowl?? Where I live there was a lady that had about 20 fre-range guineas. She died and they ran loose for about hree years. Haven't seen 'em in a while. Guess a bob-cat got 'em.
