Car vs Rooster!!! Can he be saved???

Ok...Never heard back from the vet, whatever....I'll just be taking my "regular" pets somewhere else then, they can just deal with our cows if they're going to be like that. The only thing that was mentioned here that I could find was the Duramycin-10...so I consider that a small win. Though looking it over it looks like it's just for respritory issues??? Figured it wasn't that expensive I'd get some to add to my new first aid kit

Or can it be used for this, I don't know. I managed to locate some tea tree oil and Neem oil that were suggested by a friend while I was picking up my gallon of raw apple cider vinegar. Then I hit the dollar store and bought all of their self stick wraps in 2" width.

Lucky's still doing good and ate nearly his whole egg scrambler this morning and has been drinking plenty of water too...now the mission this evening after milking will be to get him in his leg soak and slather him up good.

Now I can't quite picture the "splinting above and below the break"...can someone please help me out there, because I'd like to really try and get it right this time, so I don't have to keep messing with his poor leg, I figure this soak and super slathering should be the major treatment for the mites and then I'll be able to re-slather as needed, without taking his splint off.

Thank you again, EVERYONE!!!

I've been following your post too and Lucky is lucky indeed!
I would be careful with the tea tree oil it is toxic to dogs and I have read on here that some people have had their small chickens die from it. There is alot of things for scaly leg mites and since Lucky is not to healthy right now you might want to skip the tea tree oil and use something else.

Really?! My vet told me to use it on my dog's ears! I won't be doing that anymore!

That vet is crazy! Tea tree oil works on dogs! Have used it since they were pups on bug bites, and other sores.

Ok, I'm back to using tea tree oil. Whew.

very diluted you can use it on dogs,But straight it is very toxic. I put it on my dog (and not very much either) and a few hours later I am rushing him to the vet because he can't stand or walk. Would not use it again on any animal. Search on here and you will read the same thing.

Duramycin-10 is tetracycline. People use it for respiratory issues, bumblefoot, etc. I was given as a kid for chronic ear infections. That's all I ever used on my chickens. Maybe your (new) vet can recommend a broad spectrum one that will work better.

So do you think I can use it? I bought a quart waterer...if you think I can use it, how much do I put in?
