Linden felt his heart skip a beat when Terrick lunged forward toward Algar, worried that the axe would strike his friend. The relief he felt when it missed, however, was quickly replaced by panic as Terrick crashed onto the floor behind Algar. Now the bandit was between Linden and his ailing friend, and Linden had no choice but to retreat again as the axe swung back, pushing him closer to the far wall and further away from Terrick. The position gave him no chance to protect his friend from Algar's axe...

While Algar swung the axe towards Linden a second time, Mavis crawled out from under the table. In the dark he hoped that his movement would be missed by the bandit leader. On his hands and knees, he made his way across the floor behind Algar to Terrick.
"Terrick!" He breathed, putting himself in the way of danger. He could see Terrick's wounded leg in the light of the moon as Linden hadn't had time to retie a new bandage on. It looked terribly painful...
