A rush of adrenaline at the sound of the glass breaking helped Terrick push himself up off the cot and he grabbed the edge of the table where Mavis and Maple hid for balance. His hand shook as he grasped his sword, not from fear, but from effort.

Algar used the axe to knock away most of the glass before climbing through. "YOU!" he spat, focusing on Linden. "I won't make the mistake of leaving you alive again! Then I'll find that boy and kill him too."

---

Merek had to dodge to the side again to avoid Bree's attack. Even at that, her blade caught his pant leg, ripping it just above his boot. Not wanting to get surrounded, he began backing away from the elves and toward the secret bridge. "Who let you two delicate flowers play with sharp things?" he said, trying to provoke one or both of them into doing something stupid.

Not wanting to get surrounded, he began backing away from the elves and toward the secret bridge. Bree continued to slashing and jabbing assault, knowing soon enough the human would tire even more.

Raven ignored the taunt, watching Bree fight and waiting for an opening in Merics defense. Quietly she circled around to try to block his path.

"You won't touch the boy," Linden said coldly, meeting Algar's gaze squarely. He didn't have the energy to spit the words out like the bandit, but he hoped they sounded menacing. "Kill me if you can, but I swear on my own life that you will never, ever hurt him again. Or the girl." The words came out stronger then he felt inside, and he wondered if he would be able to even keep such a weighted promise.

With one more body inside, the house suddenly got a whole lot smaller. Linden knew that this battle would be quick, neither himself or Terrick had the strength to draw it out. Their only chance would be to engage Algar quickly, and finish him quickly. Jabbing the fire iron towards his foe, Linden squared his shoulders and spat on the floor.

As Bree continued her assault, forcing the old man to give ground, and Raven circled behind him, Merek knew this battle was bound to get out of hand quickly if he didn't do something to change it. He hurried backwards faster and hurled the bow toward the water where it landed with a splash. With his other hand he drew the sword at his hip. His back was almost to the water now, so he lunged toward Bree, beating her blade with his sword, trying to knock her primary weapon from her hand.

---

Broken glass crunched underfoot as Algar stepped back, but Linden's speed caught him off guard and the fire iron jabbed him in the thigh. "You'll pay for that one," he said, angry at letting himself underestimate his opponent. He swung the axe in a wide arc toward Linden. Terrick forced himself forward, sword held defensively as he looked for an opportunity to lunge in, knowing he would probably only get one chance.

Raven used his assault on Bree to launch her own attack. She stepped forward and sliced at his side, then moved back quickly to get out of his sword's range.

Linden lurched backwards, the axe swinging a couple inches from his stomach. The axe was such a heavy weapon, he knew the fire iron would be useless if Algar managed to hit it. Even from the short time that they had been fighting Linden was already beginning to feel out of breath. While the axe swung wide, Linden lunged forward again to poke Algar. He was reluctant to get too close because of the axe, but needed to get close enough to land a solid jab. It was a very delicate balance...

Bree let her blade go to let him think he had the upper hand, but she was ambidextrous, having little trouble fighting him with other sword, pulling out a dagger from its sheath, she forced her assault trying to get him into the water, where footing would be slippery, she slashed with lightning speed for his neck and chest.

Raven's blade sliced down Merek's left bicep as he couldn't parry the attacks of both girls at once. "Not bad, flower, not bad," he said, though his breathing sounded pained & labored. He took another step backwards, his foot landing in the water. But then lunged forward again, swinging his sword toward Bree's belly.

As Linden jabbed the impromptu weapon toward Algar, the bandit hardened his jaw and did not retreat. The fire iron jabbed him hard in the rib just as he stopped the axe swing and reversed its direction, sending it back toward Linden. Knowing he could wait no longer, Terrick lurched forward, sword extended toward Algar's right side, leaving a gaping wound across the bandit's mid-section. His momentum carried him toward the far wall where he landed in a heap upon the broken glass.
