Linden felt his heart skip a beat when Terrick lunged forward toward Algar, worried that the axe would strike his friend. The relief he felt when it missed, however, was quickly replaced by panic as Terrick crashed onto the floor behind Algar. Now the bandit was between Linden and his ailing friend, and Linden had no choice but to retreat again as the axe swung back, pushing him closer to the far wall and further away from Terrick. The position gave him no chance to protect his friend from Algar's axe...

--

While Algar swung the axe towards Linden a second time, Mavis crawled out from under the table. In the dark he hoped that his movement would be missed by the bandit leader. On his hands and knees, he made his way across the floor behind Algar to Terrick.

"Terrick!" He breathed, putting himself in the way of danger. He could see Terrick's wounded leg in the light of the moon as Linden hadn't had time to retie a new bandage on. It looked terribly painful...

Raven's blade sliced down Merek's left bicep as he couldn't parry the attacks of both girls at once. "Not bad, flower, not bad," he said, though his breathing sounded pained & labored. He took another step backwards, his foot landing in the water. But then lunged forward again, swinging his sword toward Bree's belly.

---

As Linden jabbed the impromptu weapon toward Algar, the bandit hardened his jaw and did not retreat. The fire iron jabbed him hard in the rib just as he stopped the axe swing and reversed its direction, sending it back toward Linden. Knowing he could wait no longer, Terrick lurched forward, sword extended toward Algar's right side, leaving a gaping wound across the bandit's mid-section. His momentum carried him toward the far wall where he landed in a heap upon the broken glass.
Bree rolled to the side, he had gotten a scratch on her thigh when she rolled, she continued her assault, slowly backing him up, but she of all people knew to be extremely cautious, even if she seemed to be winning.

"Give up, man" Raven said in common. She waited for another opening in his defenses so she could slice at him again.

(Are you envisioning that we're at the top of the waterfall or the bottom?)

Merek's eyes narrowed at the suggestion. He backed up again into the water near the bank, parrying another blow from Bree, though a bit slower each time, and grunted through gritted teeth, "Then what? You murder me as soon as my blade is down?"

---

Algar grimaced in pain as Terrick's sword gashed his side just below his rib. When Linden backed up, Algar risked a look in Terrick's direction, not wanting to get caught between two opponents, even if they were battered and bleeding. His eyes landed on the small, shadowed form of Mavis and he took two quick steps backwards, reaching toward the boy with his left hand, intending to snatch him by the back of his shirt collar.

(Didn't realize there was a waterfall, heh.)

Bree was silent, she knew talking would just break her concentration.

(Bottom at the lake)
"No, we don't kill without reason." Raven insisted. She didn't glance to Bree, hoping she would go along with her.

Bree decided to try and end the fight, smashing her sword into his, attempting to knock it out of his hand.

"I taught your father that trick," Merek scoffed as he circled his sword around Bree's to keep the weapon from being removed from his grasp and hinting at more formal training in swordplay than he would have received in the bandit camp. But still, he was smart enough to know that he was outmatched by the two elves. "So, what, I'm just free to leave?" he asked Raven, still backing into the water until it was up to his knees.

"Not until after this is all settled." Raven replied "There is more at stake here than just getting you humans out of my forest." She stopped advancing and waited for him to make up his mind.
