cardboard poop trays? will they absord moisture?

i use carboard on mesh for my poop boards underneath the roosts and i was wonderin if the carboard would absorb the nitrogen etc when the poop moisure is absorbd by the carboard?

I use brown paper feed bags - it absorbs some of the moisture but it usually dries off, and I try to always throw some shavings on there too to absorb any left over moisture. I compost it all.
