careers inbetween chicken life?

I want to share with ya'll my babies heart defect journey. Happy ending. Our youngest in now 7. He was born 4 weeks early so a slew of specialists looked at him before he was 10 hours old. A pediatric cardialogist diagnosed him with several heart probs. One was a hole in his heart but it healed by 6 months. One was a weakening in the septum and it to healed itself in time. The one prob we knew wouldn't heal itself was biscuspid aortic defect. Supposedly his little aortic valve only had 2 flaps instead of 3. This could possibly cause lots of probs it just depended. Probably more probs as he got older. For 5 years we took him to the pediatric cardialogist every 6 months. He said all looked the same. Then when Cody went around his 5th birthday the doctor did another sono on his little chest and and EKG and said he didn't see the prob anymore. He said now that he has gotten bigger he doesn't see the prob. That he must have misdiagnosed him. We were so happy we were beside ourselves. Thinking now that our precious child had no heart defect to worry about the rest of his life. Later we got mad at the doctor for the misdiagnosis. There were times when we didn't have insurance and had to pay outta our pocket for those visits. Up to $2400! I'm not mad anymore. My baby is healthy.

I'm a stay at home mom to two kids(3 and 4), 5 dogs, 3 cats, 3 chickens and 2 betta fish and one well loved puffer fish(and my spiders, of course!).

Before that I worked as a receptionist at a vet clinic for a number of years while I went to school...and earned a rather useless degree in social science. Since my kids are now in school, it's time for a career change for me, I'm back in school for a veterinary technology degree.

Wow Judymae, thats an amazing story!

The company I work for actually make solid state gamma camera's - used to take pictures of the heart and other organs.... but mostly the heart!

year of the dog--that great. I am actually teaching chemistry at a college that my boss and I are starting a veterinary technology program. I did it for 9 years as a certified tech--good for you! Its a great and rewarding field.
