~*Carolina Chickenstock 2011*~

Thanks WKA: I have some old bird cages (like for cockatiels) I'd have to make sure they were big enough for chicks to have plenty of space though. I'll have to get in the storage building and see what we have, plus make sure they are clean. Getting up to get there will be the fun part for us. Have to get up, get the kids up and ready, get the birds (probably the easiest part since they are locked up at night) and hit the road to be there close to 9am. It's a 1 1/2 hr drive for us according to mapquest! Do you know what you will be asking for the Ameracuanas, you can PM it to me. Still deciding on prices for our birds.

I thought the question on what to haul and move them in was a good one. I have a few small dog crates and maybe one or two large cages . im thinking its not going to be good enough..???? I can visualize it now... me driving, chicken on my head and one on my head rest on my seat.. pulled over blue lights flashing feathers flying... and me explaining that I just didnt have enough cages to bring them all home in.. Officer.. Sir.. here want an Egg?

It depends on the age and color of the bird as to how much they will go for. A blue Ameraucana pullet is going to be a few more dollars than a brown one. And we aren't sure if we are going to pair them all up or not. Maybe pair up a few and let others go as just pullet sales.
There are ages from 4 weeks up to 8 months so prices will be from $5 up to $25, I think.

Y'all are killing me! I want to come SO BAD, but I am afraid that if I leave Suffolk, Irene will pay us a prolonged visit.

Add to it that a friend asked me to help with an installation on Sunday...

Can we plan a chicken swap/meet/greet along the I-95 corridor? That might be close enough I could sneak away for part of a Saturday. Maybe.

So, it's all your dang fault!!! When Allison walked out with Henry I just thought she was holding it for someone............ Now we have Henry (the winning roo), Sheba (thank-you Sandy), Cupcake (thank-you Sheba and donor unknown), Cottonball (Henry and Sheba) and 2 black hens - unnamed as yet.

12 Silkie eggs in lockdown, 12 in the incubator, and another 12 which arrived today - all silkies............ I think we are addicted!!!
