~*Carolina Chickenstock 2011*~

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed chickenstock and hope there is another one in the spring! Wish it was a little closer to home though....long day of driving. But worth it! It is a nice venue for such an event and you guys really had it organized well! Good food there too. I could not buy today, but loved seeing what everyone had brought...tempted by those cute silkies!!!!! Had to talk DH into taking me, but I think even he enjoyed himself! Is there anyway to be sure of being notified next time? I sort of found the thread by accident this time (think you posted on the serama thread?) Don't want to miss out! Thanks again for all the hard work.

What a great turn out! I so wish we could of made it, hopefully next year

to Tricia and her wonderful family for putting together this superb Chickenstock !!! I know ALOT of hard work went into prepairing everything~~~donations from retailers for the raffle items, advertising, communicating in advance with all of the buyers/sellers, I could go on & on. The facility for the event was OUTSTANDING.....thanks to Tricia's wonderful husband.

Of course---we arrived a bit later than planned (the birds did NOT want to get up), and we never caught up...lol. Thank God my wonderful husband was feeling well enough to come with me because I could NOT have made it through the day without him. On the drive over (2 hrs) we had come up with a "game plan" as to how to unload and set up, because I had a feeling there was going to be alot of buyers there.
I was right!!! There was a huge field surrounded by every type of vehicle and every type of poultry. Tricia~~did you get a count of how many sellers were there??? Matt---as usual---came to my rescue and showed me how to get my van in to set up.

The minute we opened the back of the van, people started crowding around---it was wonderful. We couldn't get the birds unloaded fast enough.....and it never let up. I had brought index cards & tape to put info signs on each of the cages---they never even got unpacked. After a couple of hours, we DID get 1 of the chairs unpacked---but neither of us ever got to sit in it

It was wonderful to see a bunch of our "Silkie Friends" again....met some great new Silkie fans...and soooo many folks we didn't get a chance to see!! I saw Tricia a few minutes after we arrived, then didn't get to see her again until ALL of the other attendees had left, and ours was the only vehicle.

The weather cooperated---nice breeze all day, no rain, and it wasn't too hot.

I hope I don't leave anyone out (forgive my old brain if I do) : thank you Cheyenne for holding down a corner of the canopy when the wind tried to take it away!!, great to see the 3 of you'll again; Mary (the bee lady)--beautiful Partridges you brought, and my goodness how we will enjoy the honey (I really wasn't "fussing" at Mary in the pic); saw Gavin & Allison, a big "thank you" for coming to my rescue when I got a bit over-heated---Allison makes quite a salesman

and that ice hit the spot!; to those who's names I didn't catch that helped us set the canopy, gave our battery a jump, brought us water for the birds when we ran out, who patiently waited their turn as I worked with each customer===you'll were fantastic!!

Met a wonderful young lady from BYC who'll (hopefully) be showing her new Partridge Silkie pullet this Fall---hope you know how great it is to have a supportive mom like you do!!
Met another great BYC'er --- who did tell me her name & I can't remember---thank you for giving my "George" a wonderful home where he'll have a beautiful new wife---do stay in touch.
Met some great kids who's names I didn't get---recruited them to the wonderful world of Silkies...lol

Tommy & I never got to leave our booth, so it was great to see all of the pictures posted---a big "thank you" to the photographers.

If Tricia is able to put together another Chickenstock in the Spring~~~count us in--we'll be there!!!

It was totally terrific!
I had a great time and I know that Debra, Jackie and Kimberly with Nicole and Todd, did too. Todd was very happy Kimberly did not get more birds and with Sandy's beautiful birds right there, too!
I never got to come over and speak Sandy but you always had a great crowd and I drooled over your birds from afar!
Debra bought a few but also turned around and sold some again.
Jackie was able to move one of her roos out but still has 2 cuties for sale!
I sold more than half of what I took. Brought home more than I wanted to that was my own and only 3 new ones. Two are for a friend!

I am sure that if I had walked around I would have bought a lot more but I never got time to do more than talk to some at the sale.
I have photos but none as good as what Nicole and Kimberly took.

It was hard, but I resisted!

I totally expected to bring home ducks, though! Surprisingly, Nicole just got a trio of OEGs. Todd didn't find anything, but he didn't really look either, he mostly just held the truck in place

He is so quiet it is easy to forget he is there!

I met so many BYC folks. Enjoyed meeting everyone.

Thanks to Tricia and family for all the hard work and for such a successful Chickenstock.

I did not sell my silkie roos but sold lots of honey. Would have sold more if I had not spent most of the day looking at chickens especially Sandy's silkies.

I debated with myself all morning (trying to cut back

Sandy I just do not do great in pics. I was so intent on our conversation!!!!
You should write a book on Silkies. You have so much knowledge that the rest of us need.

Amy glad you sold lots of chickens. Makes room for more
