Awwwww! I was just wondering how they were doing and when we'd see photos

I guess you will be able to tell soon unless yours is a silkied chick too but I bet the two identical ones are his. They are so cute Carla and doing well?

I did have one silkied hen but she died a few days ago.

But, I'm sure that my chick wasn't from her. But, still you never know what you might get....

So, I take it you are sure that Thadeus's babies will be silkied? Isn't there a possibility they could be smooth from some long ago hidden gene? Any who I like them!!!! But, I hope they are silkied and both girls!

Awww sorry about the hen

I don't really think so...but I suppose anything is possible. He is only in with silkied birds and one frizzled.

You honestly never know! One of the hens is a frizzled silkied. He has a pure silkied hen, a white frizzled and a frizzled silkied...all from Pixiechicks. I think the white frizzled also carries the silkied gene from her father. So I'm thinking that silkied is a pretty sure bet in some form or another! I do have to say I was pretty excited to see the yellow legs! Thaddues' and Contessa have smudged legs since they are black so I wasn't sure what the chicks would have...good to know yellow is coming out of that pen!

well I have good new and I have bad news... I'll start off with the bad news just to get it out of the way and also because it pretains to Laura's eggs.
now that my head has stopped spinning I recandled the eggs to look at the Air cells better, 3 have detacted air cells and all 3 are Thaddeus' eggs.... Im not giving up on them though! crazier things have happened like the good news I am about to announce...

Good news... *drum roll*
I stole a double yolker egg from my MIL who has Red Sex Links.. They are in with 2 of my roosters, 1 Red Pyle Old English Game Bantam and 1 Mille Fleur d'Uccle....
I set it on September 12th... I recandeled it tonight with the Serama eggs and...

I'll start off with the good news because my day has been bad news (lost a chick). That is really awesome!!!! Congrats on the twins

Can't wait till they hatch

As far as the bad news, I am really really sorry. I have been hearing this too much lately so I think that pretty much settles it. I won't be shipping out anymore than 12 eggs at one time. The post office has done away with the 12x12x8 boxes for priority mail which forces me to fit the same amount of eggs into a smaller box. Ever since that started - just about a month ago now - every shipment has had at least a couple...sometimes more...detached air sacs. This was not happening before at all. I have tracked the information in my book and the hatch rates etc. It's very depressing. So, sorry future buyers, smaller shipments and or higher shipping prices due to two boxes having to be sent out
sad.png
I am going to check into fed-x though since Carla mentioned it to me as well as a couple other people. It might be higher shipping and slightly longer ship times though which does concern me. Until then, 12 eggs will be the max (buy 9, get 12 type thing). I'm not willing to risk anymore air sac issues.

No need to apologize Laura, once they leave your hands, its out of your control. besides the way I see it, I still have 6 healthy looking Thaddeus eggs!! thats 6 potential Silkied and Silkied Frizzle babies I never would have had before!! I also seen what might actually be veining on one of the Thaddeus eggs also!

I know it's completely out of my hands but it just is so frustrating! I might have found a little silver lining tonight in my brooder. I think Napoleon threw not one but two silkied frizzles in my last hatch!
ya.gif
I have two frizzled chicks that are just looking very different than the other two frizzled chicks. One is dark and one is light. Gotta love that little Napoleon
love.gif
But of course his girls have quit laying now lol and so has Amadeus and everyone else it seems
