I know it's completely out of my hands but it just is so frustrating! I might have found a little silver lining tonight in my brooder. I think Napoleon threw not one but two silkied frizzles in my last hatch!

I have two frizzled chicks that are just looking very different than the other two frizzled chicks. One is dark and one is light. Gotta love that little Napoleon

But of course his girls have quit laying now lol and so has Amadeus and everyone else it seems

YAY!!!

Theres a higher hope for me to get a NEPOLEON Silkied Frizzle baby!!!
I love Nepoleon!! he is so beautiful!! I got so excited when you told me you had an egg for me from him!!
big_smile.png

Yep, he's one stop shopping LOL. I have smooth, frizzled and now silkied frizzled from him...he can also throw straight silkied since both him and Fawn carry the gene. I will most likely be keeping all my silkied frizzles no matter the sex.

I believe Shiloh might be Nepoleon's which I just seen today when I re-evaluated the chicks, has a red comb an waddles so Shiloh has been replaced with Cassidy and Shiloh is now for sale

I think I need to take out Andre because he seems to be the dominate boy in the group (his comb an waddles are HUGE and red!) to see if the others grow out so im 100% possitive who I say is boy really is a boy..

No need to take him out unless he is fighting. They will grow out on their own time table. I always have one boy that develops quicker but the rest always catch up
smile.png
I also wouldn't be too worried about them posing yet. Mine do not pose until much older. Some have more type than others, but they always end up posing at some point. You really cannot tell too much till they mature more...just my opinion.

We have a swap coming up on the 1st of October and I really need to make up my mind soon as who is staying... I might even just keep Shiloh because I really like his color so everything is still up in the air... Im just so confused.. I didnt think getting rid of chicks was going to be this hard... I've done it before but I never hatched them out before and then had to sell them.. maybe thats my problem..

It is hard, I know. I have found the easiest way for me to deal with it is 1) I don't get attached at all and 2) I don't name them until I'm ready to sell them. This kind of makes the letting go easier because they don't really have a "name". They still get the same amount of attention as my other Seramas but they aren't a part of them...if that makes sense? At this point, I am only keeping "different ones" and the occasional sentimental one. I just don't have them room and I don't want to interbreed my birds at all so I have to be very careful about which ones I keep and where I place them!

Yeah it makes sense!
Although Miracle was a special baby to me... Im not really attatched to her (I hope that doesnt sound bad) although Im not really attatched to Cassidy either... the only ones im attatched to are Andre an Hawk... Honestly if it werent for the fact im trying to get nice birds to start showing and breeding, I would only keep Andre an Hawk but then I get that state of mind and I start doubting myself because I dont know what is going to happen to them after they leave..

No, I don't get that! There are certain birds that just grab my heart from each hatch. Doesn't mean I don't love them all and want to keep them all, lol but reality is a bit different. The one advice I can give you about selling them is go with your gut and make sure you question everything about the potential owners. Mine practically have to give up their first born before I say yes lol unless I know them personally. I question how they care for their current birds (I like them to have chicken experience - no newbies), the housing they will have them, what they plan to do with them - breeding, showing, pets, and anything else that pops into my head. I have told many people "no" after talking them. If I don't like their answers or how I feel about them, I just say "sorry" and keep looking. It is more important to me that my babies go to good homes than just go to a home. I have spent too much time, money and love on them not to care. I was a little afraid to be so aggressive with buyers, but not anymore!

Yeah I know. I hear about breeding the Dad to the daughter and other stuff...no thank you! I mean it's fine if people want to, I just don't want to. And I would take them to the swap but just interview there. I am taking birds to our swap in October but I will be grilling everyone who even thinks about adopting one
lol.png
It is always a bittersweet day though.
