Cat Litter Boxes as Nesting Boxes?

We’re thinking of using the it’s buckets that it comes in for nesting boxes like the little tidy cat boxes but cutting off the lid but I feel like what you’re thinking would work. Better but in my area we can only find the ones without tops but you could also useStorage totes and cut a hole in them

I’ve even used milk crates as nesting boxes before. Most of the time as long as it’s enclosed dark and private Then a chicken will use it as a nesting box. They’re not real picky. At least I’ve never known mine to be

It seems that it would be expensive to use litter boxes like that as nesting boxes. There’s definitely a lot of very inventive ideas out there for less expensive nesting boxes without the chemical that you may be worried about. My hens Perfer their make shift nesting box rather than the nicer ones we made for them.
I have found all of mine for less than $1 at garage sales or free on CL.
