Cat Lover's Corner

Quote:
I lost my cat princess on January 1st, 2007. I opened the door and she ran out, she was an indoor/outdoor cat. Then the stupid neighbors started doing fireworks for new years, and she hated loud noises. So im thinking that she just ran and ran until she got lost. This thursday it will be 2 years. I miss her so much, and I think about her everyday. Its really hard when you have no idea what happened. You just keep thinking that one day they will come home. I hope that somebody found her and gave her a great home.
Here is 2 pictures of her.

Having no closure does leave you heart sick. We had one cat that disappeared, 5 months later a man that my dad used to visit had our cat sitting in his window. Dad of course recognised him and the man was glad to give him up, brought him home and it was apparent that he had either been hit by a car or stroke. He was so "home sick" for the elderly man, we took him back up to find out that the man had lost his wife a few months before our cat went missing. (this is when I was a child)
Another cat of ours went missing for 4 days! On a Friday she showed up. See, 5 minute walk for a cat, to have access to the cottages on the lake. We assume that she was down hunting and may have been locked in a garage for the week and when the people returned, found the cat, released it.
Needless to say, we have Teddy that will make a jail break every now and then- he is such a ding bat that he cannot find his way home. Start with posting flyers on all the neighborhood, they can go aways as far as 10 mile radius and ask that even if they were not sure, please call- a cell phone number if you can for protection. It is heart breaking.
Where we live near the out of staters cottages, (not all...) they come in spring, get a kitten to entertain their kids, eat mice and all that, but when its time to take them home, they don't. Let them out and lock the door for winter and leave town. If I could I'd kick them in the shin. Due to the fact that we don't have a dog, we have cats and pens for them, I end up trapping them to take to the cat Shelter, I do take a photo of the cat, and leave a pic at each neighbors door so to make sure I didn't remove someones cat.
Sorry for the long babble, its so wonderful to see people so responsible when it comes to cats, they aren't just a tossable animal.

We just started having another stray cat comming around. He will only come within 4-5 feet of you. I noticed his eye was cloudy, so I started putting some medicine in his food, and its better. I also see that he has a hairless ring around his tail, which it looks to me like somebody had wrapped a rubber band around his tail. I already have 3 cats, and dont have room for another, but oh well. I dont like to see him suffer. I also gave him a dose of wormer in his food. It makes me sick when people treat their animals like garbage. Last year at our local shelter, we had somebody drop in a sickly, emaciated, flea ridden cat, and they had the nerve to ask if they could trade in the cat for a dog.

I have one cat now. Her name is Mittens.

She's a sweetie... at least I think so. My mom and older sister don't like cats, so they won't admit that Mittens is sweet and cute. I think she's maybe 9 years old. We found her in the woods years ago, and she was not quite full grown.

Muffy was my favorite cat. We had her for maybe 16 or 17 years before she had to be put down last year. She had very bad thyroid, asthma, an absessed (sp?) tooth, and was just old. We got her from the pound where she had been for a long time. When we got her, she only had one eye, and the other was an empty socket. So we took her to the vet and got her eye taken care of and got her spayed. Here's a picture (she loved me too

The people with the cat should have been thumped, but honestly, I think half of them had low oxygen to their brains. As for trade for a dog, GRRRR I'd have given them a one way door to the rottie pen...woops, I didn't say that did I?
As for the baby with the one eye, thank heavens you loved her enough to tend to her. How horrible for her to have had to endure that pain prior to you finding her.
Of course, I'm a softy. I'd own a barn for kitties, so would DH. We hate to see kittens or cats for that matter, we want to snuzzle them!

Don't post often in this subject line but, what the heck. These are our two `ditch', i.e., that's where they were ditched, cats. We found both as kittens. The Tortoise Shell was spotted by Cass; I found the manx in a walmart bag with his dead sibs (out picking up trash along the road). I generally object to cats but these have their moments, and they work hard for the privilege. Usually, I harvest all ferals (we are a dumping ground). We save what we can:

They usually hang out up above:

They earn their keep:

They do not, however, get to torture the occasional Grey Tree Frogs that hop in for a visit

I love seeing everyone's kitties and reading their stories on how they found all you great folks. The bottle fed kitten reminds me of so many sleepless nights feeding the lil darlings. I enjoyed every minute! It never ceases to amaze me what ignorant poor excuses for humans do to them. Always saddens me to hear of lost, or departed felines as I remember my little angels from the past.
Always end up with another stray that finds their way to my heart.
Yes I still have Snuffalupagus, the Siamese. We have bonded quite well.
