This reminds me of all the antics with cats and Christmas trees I’ve seen over the years. For most of my life we had real trees, floor to ceiling. Learned not to hang anything fragile on the lower third, nothing edible either. No tinsel. Even a big sturdy tree is no match for a 12 lb cat..... they can wrestle that tree down and enjoy doing it!! Younger cats usually climbed up, sometimes pounced on someone walking past.... I can still hear the screams
If you enjoy decorating the tree - get a cat or 3..... every morning ornaments had to be gathered and hung, again. And again. And one of any cats favorite things is to lay under the tree.... mom was kind enoufh to fashion a big bed with a tree skirt and wrapped boxes! And yes, the boxes and wrapping and bows make great toys too!.
Using fake trees did not change much . Small tree on a raised platform .... not good either. Learned to live with it, the cats appreciate the annual decorated jungle gym
I forgot about the wrapped gifts and bows..:gig

I love that tree... ingeneous.... You guys know me I would paint it as well though I love the plain... But a nice Christmassy stain for the wood and some painted on ornaments... Heck even some wood ornaments painted colors and hung would be awesome.

I actually did spay paint some green on there but it doesn't show up in the picture very well. It's kind of a camo green color.
But painting ornaments on there would be really cool. I covered it in those little cup hooks so I could hang stuff on there. :gig
And the box was fun to fill with gifts.

It really depends on your cats. I've had lots of cats thought the years, the worst I've had was our current cat knocking a few ornaments off the bottom. While she was a kitten, I stuck to unbreakable ornaments. Now that she's 9, I've gone back to putting some breakables higher up. DO NOT put tinsel on your tree, however, lots of cats will eat it, and that can be deadly. I'd say, try a smaller tree with unbreakable ornaments and see how it goes.
