That would be a cat for you. Eat what isn't edible and turn up your nose to the most expensive of foods. LOL.

I'm glad Moo is feeling better.

Yes, he seems to be, and he does get the premium food, which fortunately he likes to eat too. That money, however, was saved for some much needed tree work in my yard, and I do love my trees! I guess I love Moo more though. He's a particularly wonderful creature. Stole (um, rescued) him from a neglectful situation at a barn. Oh! Winter's almost here! Let's get a 4 month old kitten and then let's not feed him much or give him shelter! Oh, he needs water?? Oh, that fox that's getting the chickens might get him too? Oh well, that's the life of a barn cat!

I'm so glad you helped him!

We've had a few abandoned pets come to our barn and I've helped tame them, we got one fixed, we found one a new home, and we've helped an orphaned kitten. It is always so nice. We even have a cat that got hit by a car and now can't use one leg nearly at all and has bad hearing and sight, but survives walking to town and back here regularly, holding his own, and I think he even hunts! He is doing much better, especially since we give him a warm place, water, and food during the winter. He doesn't like us to get near him though.

Orange-cat, a stray tom we got fixed so he would hopefully be less aggressive and find a new home instead of fighting with our cats

Ooo, Mesa is beautiful! So are all the others, of course! Barn cats can have great lives as long as they are given food, shelter and fresh water. Warmth in the winter so they don't suffer or really have to tough it out. Some people, like some people I know, think they should just fend for themselves and that daily food, water, warmth in the winter is spoiling them, and not necessary or important, even if they used to be house cats... I've already ranted about some folks I know who have a barn, so I won't do it here again! Yours all look very well fed and happy!

Hey! I love cats very much! How many of ya'll love and own them? Come to my thread to talk nothing but felines!!!

I have three cats: Kiki, Sweetie, and Precious. Unfortunately only a few months ago my other cat, Smoky, was hit and killed on the highway. :(
Just look at that adorable kitten!

I agree, we had two half Persian barn cats that had access to food and water at all times, and had our barn with hay in it to snuggle up in for shelter. They lived to the ripe old ages of 17 and 18 years old.

One person wrote that outdoors cats rarely live past 2 years of age and they should always be kept indoors. I think it is worth a risk to let them out, because they are so much happier (though they also love indoors, and I understand how places with busy roads can be very dangerous for some cats). My cat is mean and grumpy if kept indoors during times when coyotes might be out or something, and spends over half his time outside. The barn cats have never been inside (we are allergic to them) except when they were sick or when they had kittens (before they were fixed).
Ours are around 8 or 9 years of age and have had their share of problems (mainly fights with stray tom cats), but I hear that purebred indoors cats have an average lifespan of 12-14 years, and I bet our cats will make it there easily.

Hi everyone, I had 2 cats but on wed. Jasper was hit by a car. The women that hit him was very sorry was she was crying and as well her daughter and mine. We have be looking for kitten to help my other cat tucker was outside playing Jasper just before it happend. Now he sits at Jasper gave for long periods of time and just stares at the grave. It's heartbreaking . I looked on CL and pet finders. So if there anyone near me and has a kittens I love to have one please pm me! My daughter really don't want another tuxedo cat she told me that that is would just remind her of Jasper. But loves long hair cats. I am going to put a thread in Massachusetts and free Thank you for letting me vent.

Aw how sad. I'm sorry for your loss. I know my pets are my family and it is always so hard when one passes. Your kitty sitting by the grave breaks my heart. Isn't it strange that he knows...
I live in RI and can probably get you a cat from Barrington PAWs as I work with the woman who founded it. I'll look on CL too.
