Caught my hen chowing down on dog poop

I saw my chicken indulging in my dog's poop today. I saw her eating it and ran outside. I took some snow to cover it only to find her going through another pile. .....and another until all was covered. I just picked up all the poop yesterday, so I wasn't in the mood to do it again, although it probably would have been faster....anyway..... She even tried to dig through the snow. What the heck? Is this some new kind of chicken crack?

They did this in the summer when I was feeding my dog veggies and they found the corn in there and they were all digging in. I stop feeding him corn.

But this time...there is nothing in there for her to want. It is just plain old dog crap. Taking mouthful of it. I was gagging watching her while running outside.

So my dog eats chicken poop and now my chicken eats dog poop. What the heck is this?

My chickens find dog poop in the yard all the time. They pick through it sometimes. They do the same with horse poop and any animal poop. Part of their nature, however it is gross

My birds are separated from my dogs with an electric poultry fence for their own safely, unless its winter and then they are confined the coop and enclosed run, so they haven't had access to dog poop, but if I have any chicken poop on my boots, my dogs are all over them. I've just decided what animals think is gross and what we think is gross are two totally different things.

I feed them half and half of all flock and layer pellets ;have a rooster). If you guys say it's normal, then I guess it's fine. I am just worried about any illness.

Sorry, I had to laugh. Chickens will eat anything they can pick up with their beak. And sometimes what they eat is gross. You'd think they eat would eat their own poop but I guess chickens have exclusive taste.

Well, I would consider this as gross . Just thinking of those eggs a chicken would lay after indulging in dog poop makes my stomach turn.
